PUBLIC ADVISORY NO. 01-2018

The public is hereby advised that the Philippine Embassy in Berne has started processing passport applications with ten (10) year-validity for applicants 18 years old and above.

In line with this, ALL applications, both new and renewal, will be required to submit Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-authenticated birth and marriage certificates.

PSA-authenticated birth certificate will be particularly required for:

  1. Holders of non-ePassport booklets;
  2. Minor applicants;
  3. Lost passport applications;
  4. Replacement of Mutilated/damaged passports; and
  5. Passports requiring data correction.

Effective immediately, the Embassy will only accept and process passport applications which have complied with said requirement.

All Filipino nationals are advised to apply for a new e-Passport as soon as possible before the expiry of their current passport. The public is advised to check the validty of their Philippine passports to avoid inconvenience in case of travel of renewal of permit to stay.

 

PASSPORTS ISSUED IN 2012 OR BELOW ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO BE RENEWED NOW! The processing period for the new passport is estimated to be from 4 to 6 weeks from the date of application.

 

As a matter of policy, extension of validity will no longer be allowed as any amendment in the passport will not be reflected in the electronic chip of the passport.

Note:  Since, 1 March 2013, PostFinance/Swiss Post will no longer be accepting Postanweisung/ Postal Money order.  Applicants can send their cash/ payments by "registered letter" value added service.  Letter contents are insured up to a value of 500 francs.  Cash can also be sent by A Mail Plus, the contents of which are insured up to a value of 100 francs.
